19 September (Saturday) • 7:30 PM • An Evening with Tromba Mundi at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W Roosevelt St, Phoenix. In this amazing septet are: James Ackley, Scott Belck, Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski, Leonard Foy, and Judith Saxton. Joining them at the organ is guest organist Gary Quamme. The concert features music for organ and trumpet by William Byrd, Johann Sebastian Bach, Joe Price, Erik Morales, and others. Tromba Mundi was founded in January of 2008 for the sole purpose of the exploration of trumpet ensemble repertoire and the promotion of new works. Each member of the ensemble is a professional pedagogue and performer from the Universities of: Capital (OH), South Carolina, West Chester (PA), Indiana, Rowan & the North Carolina School of the Arts. Also, all members perform frequently with other ensembles such as the Cincinnati Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Augusta Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Brevard Orchestra, as well as various jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, freelancing, and commercial recording work. 10 October (Saturday) • 7:30 PM • Hector Olivera, organist, at Yavapai College Performance Hall, located at 1100 E Sheldon St, at the intersection of Rush and Sheldon in Prescott, AZ. (The Performance Hall is the first large, gray, block-and-glass building on the left as you enter the college.) An internationally acclaimed organist and consummate performer, Olivera is a passionate, gifted and unique musician whose personal interpretations of both classical and popular music have amazed and delighted audiences around the world. 19 October (Monday) • 7:00 PMA Pipe Organ Encounter, Brent Hylton, organist, in the Sanctuary of Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, 25150 N Pima Rd, Scottsdale. Join Brent Hylton for an up-close and personal tour of Pinnacle's Richards, Fowkes pipe organ. Mr. Hylton will not only lead the experience, including a "behind the scenes" look inside the organ chamber, but he will also demonstrate the power and majesty of this extraordinary instrument.

Dr. Filsell was an Organ Scholar at Keble College, Oxford, before engaging in postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music. His doctorate is from the Birmingham Conservatoire/BCU. 22 November (Sunday) • 2:00 PM •Carlo Curley, organist, Organ Dedication at Tri-City Ministries, 2211 W Germann Road, Chandler. International Organ Concert Artist, Carlo Curley, will play the dedication concert of the Allen organ installed at the new Tri-City Ministries Campus. Born into a musical family in North Carolina in 1952, he attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and coached privately with renowned pedagogues Arthur Poister and Robert Elmore. Ultimately, he studied with two of the world's greatest organists: America's legendary Virgil Fox and Great Britain's Sir George Thalben-Ball. If you have attended a Virgil Fox performance, you will recognize his influence on Carlo, both in the way he plays and in his enthusiasm as he talks about "The King of Instruments." Free Admission. 6 December (Sunday) • 4:00 and 7:00 PMCelebration of Christmas at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, Scottsdale. This annual event sparkles with the wonder and joy of the Christmas season. Offered as Pinnacle's gift to the greater Scottsdale community, the concert features the Chancel Choir and Pinnacle Pealers along with guest artists Southwest Brass in an inspirational program of holiday music. Free Admission. A special offering will be received to support Casa de la Misericordia in Nogales, Mexico and to further the fine arts program of Pinnacle Presbyterian Church.

12 December (Saturday) • 3:00 and 6:30 PM • Gold Canyon United Methodist Church 8th Annual Choral Christmas Concerts. The concerts will feature the church's Chancel Choir, Chancel Ringers, Youth Handbell Team, the Agape Brass Quintet, Flute, Harp, Organ, Piano, Percussion, and Timpani. Featured Soloists are baritone Don Engbrecht singing The Birthday of a King and soprano Mary Lynn Preiss singing the beloved O Holy Night. Free will offering. The church is located on Kings Ranch Road, 2 blocks north of Highway 60 (Walgreens on the corner) in Gold Canyon, 5 miles east of Apache Junction. The doors will open one hour prior to each concert.

13 December (Sunday) • 2:30 and 5:00 PM • Kimberly Marshall and the ASU Organ Studio invite you to their 7th Annual Organ Christmas Concert celebrating the beautiful music of Christmas in the Organ Hall, appropriately decorated for the occasion. The program will include organ works based on seasonal carols and noëls, and is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

18 December (Friday) • 7:30 PM • The Phoenix Chorale at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, Scottsdale. Premium seating $35; General admission $25 & $10; Students $5; Fresh from the Grammy Awards, The Phoenix Chorale (formerly Phoenix Bach Choir) returns with a glorious holiday concert. Known for their seamless vocal blend, this twenty-four-voice choir directed by Charles Bruffy is earning well-deserved accolades from the international choral community.

29 January (Friday) • 7:30 PM • Michael Unger: Pulling Out All the Stops. Organist Michael Unger is hailed as a marvelous player with fleet fingers and feet and an adventurous sense of programming. In 2008 he was the first prize winner in two prestigious organ competitions, the National Young Artists competition in the U.S. and the Musashino International Organ competition in Tokyo Japan. A native of Toronto, Mr. Unger is completing doctoral studies at the Eastman School of Music while establishing a thriving performance career. 7 March (Sunday) • 3:00 PMThe 12th Annual Choral Spring Concert will be presented by the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, Douglas J. Benton conducting, and will feature the 80-voice Chancel Choir with handbells and brass. Of special interest is the choir's presentation of The Passion of the Christ, a very moving collection of anthems with narration. A freewill offering will be received and everyone is asked to bring a can of food for the GCUMC Food Bank.

14 March (Sunday) • 3:00 PM • Gene Lowry, piano, with Dwight Killian on bass, will present a blues/jazz lecture/recital at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Eugene L. Lowry served as Professor of Preaching for over thirty years at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO, and was a guest professor at Princeton Theological seminary. Gene's keyboard lecture/concerts relating jazz and Christianity have resulted in four recordings in the blues/jazz mode. A freewill offering will be received and everyone is asked to bring a can of food for the GCUMC Food Bank.

21 March (Sunday) • 3:00 PM • Gold Canyon United Methodist Church presents internationally acclaimed handbell soloist, Ruben Mendoza. He has rung and taught at several events of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR). With Handbell Ensemble Sonos, Ruben has toured all over the United States, three tours in Japan, performed on A Prairie Home Companion, rang with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Kronos String Quartet and San Jose Taiko. Most recently, he was the featured soloist for the AGEHR National Seminar in Tucson last summer. A freewill offering will be received and everyone is asked to bring a can of food for the GCUMC Food Bank.

2 April (Friday) • 12:00 PM Stations of the Cross • 12:40 PM Stabat Mater by Karl Jenkins at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 6300 N Central Ave, Phoenix. The Stabat Mater is a powerful text dating from the 13th century that meditates on the suffering of Mary during Christ's crucifixion. This setting by Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins, has all the pathos and drama, the soaring melodies and sumptuous orchestration for which he has become famous. The choirs of All Saints' will be joined by members of The Phoenix Symphony for this presentation under the direction of Scott Youngs. Our two featured alto soloists are Caroline Markham and Karen Knudsen. Jenkins has set this mainly Latin text alongside some English, Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Freewill offering. 24 April (Saturday) • 9:30 – 11:30 AM • Service Playing Workshop and Concert at 1:00 PM: David Enlow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 North 128th Ave, Sun City West. David Enlow is the Organist/Choirmaster of the Church of the Resurrection, New York City. The workshop and concert are free, though registration is required for the workshop which is limited to 88 participants. Please use the registration form on page 4 of the March Pipeline. 13 June (Sunday) • 3:00 PM • Isabelle Demers, organist, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 North 128th Avenue, Sun City West. A native of Quebec, Isabelle Demers is becoming recognized as one of North America's most virtuosic organists. She is currently completing her doctoral studies with Paul Jacobs and serves on the music staff at New York City's historic Trinity Church, Wall Street.
